The Problem
A not-for-profit aged care provider caring for 1,000 residents across 12 aged care homes sought our expertise to review their data and analytics platform and address their data-related challenges.
Upon assessment, we found that their existing data warehouse had substantially grown over time and was becoming difficult to maintain. The current solution relied on outdated design and structures, limiting the incorporation of data analytics best practices and hindering data reusability.
Consequently, our analysis emphasised the necessity for a modern, cloud-based data and analytics platform to enable the adoption of data analytics best practices.
The Solution
Exposé initiated the project by conducting workshops with key stakeholders to understand the business needs. These insights were then carefully analysed to determine the essential technological components required for their data platform.
A detailed platform architecture document was created, outlining the proposed platform architecture, encompassing networking, governance, ingestion, orchestration, storage, data modelling, semantic layer, and data visualisation.
The team also prioritised scaffolding, security, and sensitivity, offering valuable recommendations to further enhance the safety and security of the proposed solution.
To streamline environment provisioning, BICEP code was employed, enabling modular code building for efficient deployment. Azure DevOps pipelines were also set up, allowing efficient management and parameterisation of the platform provision process.
Business Benefit
- A modern data platform provisioned in the cloud to enable the business to commence cloud migration and facilitate better and more traceable data analytics workloads.
- By adopting a pay-as-you-go model, the infrastructure cost is optimised by ensuring the business only pays for resources used.
- Moreover, the modern data architecture will provide easy access to emerging and advanced technologies, enabling the company to adopt cutting-edge tools and techniques quickly.
- In conclusion, the modern data architecture will empower the company to stay at the forefront of technological advancements and make data-driven decisions.
